—  David O'Brien, The Barefoot Review

“So much joy and fun is expressed in Ben Gera’s script.

The wordplay alone is a sheer delight, multiplied by a sharp, brilliantly on-point ensemble, who gives everything to encompass all that is known about seeking out answers and giving them.”

Lonely  People are Always Up in the Middle of the Night

By Hila Ben Gera

2017

Lonely People are Always Up in the Middle of the Night is a new play by Hila Ben Gera comprising twelve vignettes that explore the desire for human connection in a dystopian city on one cold night. Just before midnight, we meet various characters – The Prostitutes, The Bitter Man, The Other She & The Other He and more, who desperately seek kindness, empathy, compassion, happiness and beauty in the company of others. Through the use of humour, colors, baking powder and holes this work asks “Do we need each other?”
